As part of its community impact management, individual PZU Group entities have established specific indicators and action directions aimed at effectively managing material impacts, risks and opportunities related to affected communities. Key effectiveness indicator in new strategic perspective is reaching 15 million beneficiaries of PZU Group’s social engagement activities.
The target is based on previously established benchmarks ensuring stability over time as well as internal regulatory documents, including grant competition regulations, PZU Foundation statutory goals and preventive and sponsorship budgets.
At PZU, the ESG strategy “Development in balance” for 2024 defines three objectives related to social engagement:
Subsidiaries also implemented their own social engagement strategies. For example, BALTA measured impact effectiveness through reach analysis, digital engagement metrics, number of participants and expert evaluations. In accordance with 2024 BALTA social engagement analysis:
- BALTA Safety Academy reached 1.77 million beneficiaries
- Crazy Safe Summer insured 28,043 children, including Ukrainian refugees
- over 20 social projects impacted approximately 2 million people.
Specific initiatives and programs have been developed and implemented in response to the needs and voice of the community. Through this approach to managing impact on communities, PZU Group ensures that its goals and initiatives are tailored to the actual needs of stakeholders. This helps minimize risks and amplify positive effects. Continuous monitoring of outcomes and a commitment to dialogue with communities ensure that actions are relevant, transparent, and contribute to society’s long-term welfare. The results of the implementation of the initiatives are reported as part of the PZU Group’s disclosure obligations, allowing them to be tracked by stakeholders.
Cooperation with affected communities on impact management objectives
Through problem and needs reporting, affected communities indirectly participate in defining goals and future actions. The collaboration processes described in the previous section allow for setting goals tailored to the needs of affected communities.
PZU Group monitors and reports impact results. Summaries of social engagement are published in the Sustainability Statement. Information on actions being carried out are also available on the PZU Group’s websites.
Local community organizations can apply for sponsorship or can approach the PZU Foundation with a request for support. In some cases, information obtained from research and employee representatives was used, where possible and appropriate, to improve processes
The PZU Group’s activities aim to provide long-term support to communities by improving quality of life, preventing negative impacts of operations, and promoting a responsible approach to the environment and society.
