The role of the community was to report needs and precisely define the issues that required resolution. The design and implementation of appropriate programs are managed by employees in specialized units, who assess the justification of the request and its alignment with PZU Group’s social engagement goals.

Initiatives for safety improvement

In 2024 PZU launched an educational preventive action, as part of its cybersecurity efforts. PZU conducted a preventive educational campaign focused on financial security and IT security awareness. The initiative was carried out as a preventive measure aimed at preventing or mitigating the negative effects of random events resulting from cyber threats. The campaign’s content reached a wide audience of adults with varying levels of digital literacy. Recipients received up-to-date and practical knowledge on how to counter digital threats, along with ready-to-use behavioral scripts to enhance their sense of security. PZU monitors the number of people reached by all preventive campaigns, both through online and offline media channels.

PZU once again provided financial support to GOPR (Volunteer Mountain Rescue Service), funding vehicle and equipment for mountain rescue modernization and rescue training programs.

New cooperation agreement includes funding for new vehicle purchases and modernization of the existing fleet. Key support element will be radio communication systems for better rescue coordination and satellite-based navigation tools for locating victims. The innovation will involve unmanned aerial vehicles, which, using AI solutions, will be employed to search for missing individuals. PZU will continuously update equipment purchases based on GOPR needs.

PZU and Bank Pekao supported Poland’s largest automotive charity project – The Great Maluch Expedition for Children. Its objective was fundraising €1 million that will be allocated to children affected by traffic accidents, preventive measures, improvement of school and kindergarten infrastructure and road safety education for young generations. Through this initiative, PZU aims to expand public awareness on traffic safety principles.

Financial education

In 2024, PZU Foundation partnered with two organizations to implement two financial and insurance education projects.

„Od grosika do złotówki – edukacja ubezpieczeniowa z Fundacją PZU” (Insurance Education with the PZU Foundation) programme was conducted in partnership with the Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation addressed to 2nd and 3rd grade primary school students, their parents and teachers. Key project objectives were educating children on the benefits of insurance for themselves and their families. Moreover, project included information about awareness of financial security, risk forecasting, and risk avoidance. The program aims to enhance students’ understanding and abilities in the areas of insurance, safety in emergency situations, and rational financial management.

„Przygody Przedsiębiorczego Dżeka” (The Adventures of Entrepreneurial Jack) project was implemented by Pekao Group in partnership with the Warsaw Banking Institute Foundation. The mission of the Warsaw Institute of Banking is to continually develop the knowledge and skills of sector employees and citizens in the areas of finance, economics, entrepreneurship, and cybersecurity. The project targeted students, pupils, and seniors. The key components of the program include educational materials for schools (such as books, comics, coloring books, audio plays), lesson plans, competitions, workshops for children, and training sessions and workshops for teachers. Project aimed to raise awareness of educational needs among public institutions, local governments, businesses, schools, teachers and parents and to encourage interest in economic knowledge and entrepreneurship among both students and teachers, raised awareness of the enduring importance of basic knowledge and attitudes in these areas, enhanced social skills related to entrepreneurship and creativity, and strengthened the economic skills of teachers, parents, and grandparents. During the project’s implementation (2023/2024 school year), over 900 teachers conducted nearly 3,100 lessons for over 60 thousand students using the prepared scenarios.

The TFI PZU Academy, launched in 2023, is an educational program for students, aimed at investment fund and asset management education, financial instrument analysis and understanding financial markets.

Apart from training future capital market professionals the project aims to promote long-term investing using investment funds and other collective investment products. TFI PZU Academy program partner is Bloomberg. Participants receive hands-on training from fund managers and compete for a paid internship. Second project edition began in late 2024. Theoretical curriculum include economic and financial market analysis, asset allocation principles, professional stock and bond management as well as investment risk management. Additionally, students gained access to trainings on Bloomberg Terminal® functionalities. The „investment” segment focuses on applying the previously acquired knowledge practically. The participants’ objective is to manage an investment portfolio and perform virtual market transactions to achieve the highest return rate. The PZU TFI Academy will end in May 2025, and the winner will be selected for a six-month, paid internship with the TFI PZU fund management team or with PZU Group – in the investment department. Of the 180 students that applied for the programme only 15 were selected.

Healthcare initiatives

PZU launched a public awareness campaign „Nie gadaj, tylko się zbadaj” (Don’t Talk, Just Get Checked) addressing low participation in preventive health checkups and common misconceptions preventing regular health screenings. The campaign aimed to inform the public about the advantages of regular health checks – as early diagnosis improves the chances of recovery. The background for the communication was centered on the many excuses that Poles often use to avoid preventive screenings. The Minister of Health and the National Oncology Institute held honorary patronage over the campaign.

PZU has joined the „Ratujemy i Uczymy Ratować” (We Save and Teach to Save) educational program, implemented by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation (WOŚP). Through this initiative, teachers across Poland learn first aid principles and then pass this knowledge on to students in grades I-III of primary schools. In 2024, WOŚP instructors trained teachers from nearly 1,000 primary schools. Thanks to support from the PZU preventive fund, the WOŚP Foundation purchased 300,000 books for students and 5,000 mannequins for practical cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.

TUW PZUW, in partnership with CBOS (Public Opinion Research Center), launched a nationwide patient satisfaction survey in hospitals. The opinion surveys aim to diagnose problems and prevent undesirable incidents. Complementing the survey is a pilot project of patient surveys, also conducted in collaboration with the Social Opinion Research Center, in several hospitals across Poland. The study will provide answers to very detailed issues regarding systemic solutions. The presentation of the survey and questionnaire results has sparked discussions on how to improve healthcare quality and, as a result, prevent medical errors, infections, and other undesirable incidents in healthcare facilities.

Support for flood victims in Poland

The PZU Group was involved in helping those affected by the September 2024 flood

The assistance was financial and competence in scope. As part of the relief efforts for flood victims, financed by PZU's prevention fund, a psychological support hotline was launched for those affected by the disaster. PZU implemented also rapid response procedures for mass claims handling and localized natural disasters that allowed for accelerated claim settlement process.

PZU Zdrowie conducted a vaccination campaign for individuals engaged in flood relief efforts, providing immunization against tetanus, hepatitis A and typhoid fever. Firefighters and other first responders involved in flood relief efforts were the target groups for vaccination programme.

Flood victims were eligible for free medical care at PZU Zdrowie facilities. Medical support coverage included emergency consultations for all patients experiencing sudden health conditions. The support covered also primary healthcare services and when necessary, specialist care, such as pregnancy-related assistance for women, pediatric care, infection treatment, aid in case of worsening conditions for chronically ill patients and prescription renewal for lost medications.
